University of Maine researchers are launching a new study to investigate whether cunner, a common Gulf of Maine fish predator, may be preying on lobster in a way not previously documented.
Michelle Staudinger, associate professor of fisheries science at the University of Maine, is leading the project following reports from the Maine Department of Marine Resources and commercial lobstermen of increased numbers of cunner appearing in lobster traps.
