Coast Guard Responds to Grounded Fishing Vessel Near St. George Island
A joint rescue effort saved nine people aboard a grounded fishing vessel near St. George Island on Monday.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Arctic District Command Center in Juneau received a report of the disabled vessel just after 4 am. The fishing vessel Arctic Sea had begun taking on water along the island’s northern shoreline, according to a Coast Guard press release.
