US Judge Overturns Trump Directive Freezing Wind Leasing and Permits

A federal judge in Massachusetts has struck down President Donald Trump’s directive halting federal approvals for wind energy projects.
U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris ruled that federal agencies acted unlawfully when they stopped processing permits and leases for onshore and offshore wind to comply with Trump’s January 20, 2025 executive order. She vacated the memorandum, describing the administration’s reasoning as “arbitrary and capricious” and inconsistent with federal administrative law.
