Pressure From Tilapia Producers Causes Federal Government to Suspend List of 444 Invasive Species

The federal government has temporarily suspended the preparation of the National List of Invasive Alien Species Present in Brazil. The decision was announced on Thursday (4) by the MMA (Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change).
In a statement, the ministry said that the stoppage seeks to broaden consultations with the economic sectors that use these species, in order to define appropriate measures and procedures to control their escape into the natural environment.
