Mexico Extends Red Octopus Catch to 32 Thousand Tons for the 2025 Season
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development extended from 28,000 to 32,000 tons the maximum catch volume of the red octopus Octopus maya for the 2025 fishing season in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea.
The decision, published in the Official Journal of the Federation, is based on a technical evaluation that confirmed the biological viability of increasing the limit without compromising the continuity of the species.
