American Team Follows Whale into Canadian Waters to Remove Fish Lines
A team of American rescuers helped to remove c from an entangled humpback whale in the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Sooke this month.
Cascadia Research Collective said a newly trained rapid response team based in the San Juan Islands attached a satellite-tracking buoy to the humpback on the afternoon of Nov. 17 near Waldron Island, Washington, after it was spotted dragging two buoys and about 43 metres of fishing line.
