ICES Slashes Atlantic Mackerel Quota by 70%, Severely Impacts the Japanese Market

According to a report in the Minato Shimbun, on September 30th, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) recommended that the 2026 catch of Atlantic mackerel in the Northeast Atlantic be reduced by 70% from the 2025 figure of 576,958 tons to 174,357 tons.
