Shrimp Season Opens This Week in Georgia Waters
Commercial and recreational shrimp season opens Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources announced this week.
The season officially begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the DNR's Coastal Resources Division. It applies to Georgia's territorial waters extending from the shoreline to three nautical miles offshore.
The decision to open any shrimping season follows monitoring of shrimp populations and environmental conditions aimed at maintaining sustainable harvesting, the CRD said.
