Octopus 'Invasion' Causing Havoc for Shellfish Industry in Southwest England
An "invasion" of octopuses is causing severe problems for the shellfish industry in south-west England, fishers have said.
The eight-limbed cephalopods are believed to be from waters off Morocco, where their numbers are noticeably down. Fishers said they were landing between four and six tonnes of octopus a day, usually finding them in the lobster and crab pots.
