Another NARW Death Recorded Off Georgia, Marking 38th in Unusual Mortality Event
NOAA Fisheries is reporting another North Atlantic right whale (NARW) death — this time a juvenile female, the offspring of Pilgrim (#4340).
The whale carcass was spotted floating offshore of Savannah, Georgia, on February 14. Despite sharks having “heavily scavenged” the whale carcass, a team from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was able to attach a satellite tag and collect photos and samples.
