Kajima Corporation Succeeds in Mass Culturing Red Sea Plume, a Seaweed Suppressing Burping in Cows
According to Minato Shimbun, Kajima Corporation, a principal general contractor, has developed a method for mass-producing and cultivating the Red Sea Plume (Asparagopsis taxiformis). This seaweed helps reduce methane gas emissions contained in cow burps. The Kajima Institute of Technology's Hayama Aquatic Environmental Experiment Station in Kanagawa Prefecture has established technology that allows for stable mass production of the Red Sea Plume by changing it from an upright shape to a spherical shape and managing it in land-based aquariums.
