ANALYSIS: Shrimp Imports End the Year with Monthly Gain, But Still Lower on Year
In data released Wednesday, U.S. shrimp imports in December gained a more muted 5.8 percent from last year. Shrimp imports into the U.S. totaled 143.672 million pounds compared to 135.853 million pounds last year. The year ended 6.2 percent below last year at 1.732 billion pounds. This was the second consecutive annual decline after nine straight years of gains.
The gains in Ecuador (+15.3%), Indonesia (+9.9%), and Vietnam (+26.5%) were able to outweigh losses from the top trade partner India (-0.2%)...
