Sernapesca Releases Numbers For Mass Mortality Event In Los Lagos Region
A mass mortality event has been reported in salmon farming centers in the Los Lagos region, specifically Reloncaví Estuary.
Sernapesca, Chile’s National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, reported on Wednesday that 13 salmon farming centers in the Reloncaví Estuary (ACS 1) activated the Algal Blooms contingency plan due to harmful presence of the microalgae Thalassiosira pseudonana. Of those 13 farming centers, seven had to also activate contingency plans for mass mortality associated with the harmful algal blooms.
