‘Serious’ Disease Detected for the First Time in 15 Years at Lerøy Salmon Sites in Central Norway
Bacterial kidney disease (BKD) was detected at four fish farms in central Norway, according to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Mattilsynet.
This marked the region's first BKD infection in 15 years and was found in sites near the Hitra, Heim, Aure and Kristiansund municipalities. The infectious disease was described as serious by the Food Safety group.
