Japan: Seafood Imports from Russia Swelled to JPY 155 billion in 2022, Highest Since 1992
According to Japan's Ministry of Finance's trade statistics, the value of seafood imports from Russia in 2022 increased by 12.95% from the previous year to 155.2 billion yen ($1.11 billion), the highest since 1992, the year after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Suisan Keizai Shimbun reported that snow crab was the most popular item, followed by Pollock roe and sockeye salmon.
