New Temporary Grid Closures Announced For Gulf of St. Lawrence
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) released two new grid closure announcements late last week due to the presence of North Atlantic Right Whales. The grid closures mean that snow crab gear must be removed from the flagged areas.
On May 18 the DFO announced that three full grids (HD33, HD34, HE33) and a portion of six grids (HD32, HE32, HE34, HF32, HF33, HF34 will be closing on May 23 at 5 p.m. The grid closures were subject to a 120-hour delay due to weather.
