South Korea Imports Fresh Pollock for the First Time from Russia, an Alternative Source to Japan
South Korea has extended its reach to Russia as an alternative source of imported fresh Alaska pollock, which has so far relied on Japanese products. According to the Hokkaido Trawl Fisheries Cooperative Federation, 10.9 tons of fresh Alaska pollack from Russia were transported to South Korea for the first time on an international ferry on April 21, Suisan Keizai Shimbun reported.
In Korea, fresh Alaska pollack is called "saengtae"' and is used in various dishes, such as hot pot ingredients.
