Norway’s Mackerel Exports to Japan Up 80% in January-March, Reducing Shipment to China
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), mackerel exports increased 16% year-on-year to 71,400 tons and 21% to NOK 1.4 billion ($132.17 million) from January to March. Exports to Japan ranked second after South Korea with 11,861 tons, up 79% from last year, and 239.9 million kroner ($22.64 million), up 82%. Exports via China decreased, and direct exports to Japan increased, resulting in levels similar to 2005, Minato Shimbun reported.
