European Coastal States Agree on 2023 Mackerel Quota, Fail to Complete Deal on Management Plan
Norway, the EU, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and the UK reached an agreement on a total quota of 782,066 metric tons of Northeast Atlantic mackerel for 2023.
According to Norway’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, the quota is in line with advice of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and represents a slight quota decrease from 2022, which was 794,920 MT.
