Today's Top Story: Update of First NPFMC Salmon Bycatch Meeting Came From Kuskokwim Tribes: Act Now to Set Cap
The newly formed Salmon Bycatch Committee of the North Pacific Fisheries Management council met one week ago for the first time. Their charge is to provide recommendations on chum salmon bycatch; results from the governor's Bycatch Task Force; and needed research to determine what is driving western Alaska salmon declines. While the committee report had not been posted by press time, the Kuskokwim River Intertribal Fisheries Commission posted their update on the day after the meeting.
