SalMar-Owned Arnalax to Appeal $800,000 Fine Linked to Salmon Escapement
Icelandic salmon farmer Arnalax will appeal an ISK 120,000,000 ($846,000) fine imposed by Iceland’s Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST).
According to a news release from MAST, the fine was imposed because Arnalax failed to properly report a fish escapement at one of its sites. The translated release stated that during a slaughter taking place at Arnalax's sea pen 11 at Haganes in Arnarfjörður last October, the company could not account for 81,564 salmon.
