Cooke, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Release Statement on Decision to End Net Pen Aquaculture in WA

Early last week the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that they had decided not to renew leases for Cooke Aquaculture’s Puget Sound fish farms. By the end of the week it was revealed that "Washington's public aquatic lands will no longer be home to commercial finfish net pen aquaculture." The fish-farming company was given until December 14 to wrap up steelhead farming in their last pens and begin deconstructing the equipment.
