Hokkaido’s Three Fishing Towns Petition Government to Halt Russian Trawlers in the Nemuro Strait
On October 25, the mayors of Rausu and Betsukai towns in the Nemuro districts, the town councilors, and the heads of related fisheries cooperatives requested the Hokkaido government to consider urgent measures to stop Russian trawlers' fishing operations immediately in the Nemuro Strait. They petitioned for decisive actions against Russia. The following day, they also requested the same at the Fisheries Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo, Suisan Keizai reported.
