Chemistry behind ocean acidification
Our ocean absorbs about 40 per cent of carbon dioxide pumped into the atmosphere. When carbon dioxide dissolves into the ocean it reacts with the water releasing hydrogen ions to form carbonic acid making the ocean acidic.
