Louisiana Representative Pushing USDA To Purchase Seafood to Assist Fishermen Battling Inflation
U.S. Congressman Garret Graves (LA) has urged the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to purchase shrimp and crawfish from Louisiana via its food aid programs to help take pressure off of the state’s seafood sector which is face-to-face with a litany of headwinds.
Graves noted that the state’s shrimpers and crawfishers are “struggling to stay afloat amidst record high energy costs, inflation, a crumbling supply chain, workforce shortages, and the disaster recovery process.
