American Aquafarms Drops Lawsuit Against Maine DMR; Frenchman Bay United Responds
American Aquafarms is no longer pursuing a lawsuit against Maine’s Department of Marine Resources (DMR).
The issue stems back to April 2022 when the DMR terminated the company’s application for a fish farm in Frenchman Bay. The company had planned to put 30 150-foot wide floating pens in a 120-acre area. But they ran into an issue with the DMR when it came to egg-sourcing. In their August 2021 lease application American Aquafarms said that they would be sourcing Atlantic salmon smolts from AquaBounty of Newfoundland, Canada...
