Coast Guard Inspectors Return to Anchorage After Supporting Opening of Bristol Bay Fishing Season
Coast Guard inspectors who were deployed to Bristol Bay for the past two weeks to support the opening of the region’s commercial fishing season have returned to Anchorage.
A total of 351 dockside examinations took place. No fines or penalties were issued during these inspections. Instead the goal was to address safety issues that were present, including items such as flares, charts, navigational signals, fire extinguishers, emergency position indicating radio beacons and the serviceability of immersion suits.
