USDA Buys Nearly $8 Million Worth of Salmon Products; Plus a Walleye Purchase

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) invited offers to sell walleye and salmon products for use in the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs.
On May 19, the USDA announced it has purchased $7,861,472.25 worth of salmon products. Altogether, the USDA bought 290,480 pounds of product.
Trident Seafoods sold most of the product for 7,219,074.65 and OBI Seafoods rounded things out by netting $642,397.60 from the USDA for canned pink salmon.
