Maine Seaweed Producer to Net $650K in Funding to Grow Business
Springtide Seaweed in Gouldsboro, Maine will receive $649,651 to develop new innovative nori and dulse red seaweed cultivation systems, U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced on April 14.
The funding will allow the company to sell these high-value crops domestically and internationally. According to a release from Collins’ office, the seaweed farming sector has immense potential but needs access to higher-value options and provides more than brown kelp products.
