Third Time's the Crab Closure Charm: CDFW Moves Quickly to Protect Humpback Whales
That's it, one whale too many. The crab fishery in all of California will close soon after three whales were reported entangled in Dungeness crab gear.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Charlton H. Bonham assessed entanglement risk under the Risk Assessment Mitigation Program this week and decided to close the commercial crab fishery in Northern California at noon on April 20.
