JAPAN: January Fresh Imported Tuna Sales Plunge at Toyosu Market
According to the Jiji Press calculation, the number of imported fresh tuna delivered to the Toyosu market in Tokyo in January was only 43, a sharp decrease to almost one-eighth of the same month last year's 333. Both North America and the Mediterranean halted shipments, and most farmed Mexican bluefins were sold outside the auction market. Bigeye tuna also continued to be sluggish, with less than 100 for the second consecutive year.
