JAPAN: 2021 Imports Down 2%, Sockeye and Bigeye Tuna Fell By Two Digits
Based on the trade statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance on January 28, the 2021 marine product imports (preliminary figures, fish and shellfish and their preparations, fish meal, and seaweed) compiled by Minato Shimbun decreased by 2% from the previous year to 2,112,601 tons. It had fallen below the previous year's level for the second consecutive year, following 2020, when it decreased by 8% due to the effects of the coronavirus.
