Coast Guard Rescues Pair of Fishermen from Sinking Vessel Near Sitka, Alaska
The Coast Guard announced that it rescued a pair of fishermen from their sinking vessel on February 7 in Islet Passage, near Sitka, Alaska.
Watchstanders in the Sector Juneau Command Center received initial notification requesting assistance from the 40-foot F/V Glory at about 8 p.m. They then directed the launch of an Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to assist the vessel in distress.
Once on the scene, the aircrew was able to lower a rescue swimmer...
