Hurricanes Caused $579 Million Worth of Damages to Louisiana Fishing Industry
According to a new report, the hurricanes that hit Louisiana in 2020 and 2021 caused $579 million worth of damages to the state’s fishing industry.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, along with LSU and Louisiana Sea Grant, conducted a study into the impact that Hurricanes Laura, Delta, Zeta and Ida had on the state. Based on their findings, they estimate that the financial losses related to these hurricanes will continue into 2022.
