ANALYSIS: September Shrimp Imports Indicate First Year-Over-Year Decline Since November 2020
September shrimp imports were released Thursday, and the 162.987 million pounds reported is the first year-over-year decline since November 2020. The import figure was 1.3 percent below last September’s 165.189 million pounds. Year-to-date imports are 1.414 billion pounds, up 20.2 percent from last year.
India (+31.0%) was the top trade partner to ship more year-over-year. Ecuador (-10.3%), Indonesia (-19.0%), Vietnam (-6.8%), and Thailand (-26.0%) all shipped less.
