Alaska’s Covid Case Rate Over 4X Higher than U.S. Average, “No Downward Trend” Say Experts
Over the weekend, 1,686 new cases were reported, five deaths, and 236 new hospitalizations. The daily case count over the weekend was 522 on Friday October 22, 800 on Saturday, and 357 on Sunday.
Alaska’s weekly case rate yesterday was 550 cases per 100,000 people, over four times the Centers for Disease Control’s national average of 124.7 cases.
Atate epidemiologist Dr. Joe McLaughlin said Monday, “We’re not seeing at this point any clear downward trend in cases.”
