Kishida Approves Fuskushima Wastewater Release Plan For 2023, Korea and China Strongly Disagree
Japan’s new prime minister Fumio Kishida visited Fukushima last Sunday and announced that the planned mass disposal of wastewater stored at the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant could not be delayed, despite concerns from local residents. Those remarks were quickly criticized by China, North and South Korea, and others since Kishida's predecessor first announced the plan last April. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant had a triple meltdown in 2011 after a massive earthquake and tsunami.
