Japan's August Airfreighted Salmon Imports Accelerate in Norwegian Fillets, Down from North America
According to Japan's Ministry of Finance customs statistics, fresh salmon and trout imports by air in August were much higher than in the previous month, and imports by fillet are accelerating in response to the decrease in head-on salmon, Suisan Keizai reported.
The total import volume of air-freighted salmon was 3550 tons, almost the same as in July. Compared to the same month of the previous year, it was 11.2% more, and the amount increased by 20.4% to 4.45 billion yen ($39.45 million)...
