ANALYSIS: Retail Salmon Price Hits Highest Mark in 2021 Amid Lower Buying Opportunities
This past week at retail saw the highest average price per pound for salmon this year; up 11.2 percent as compared to the 3-year average and up 13.3 percent over last year at the same time. Overall, on a year-to-date basis, the average retail price is now up 3.3 percent compared to 2020.
Higher prices at retail are also paired with a lower number of buying opportunities, down 13.9 percent YTD.
