Mortality Numbers Double at Mowi’s Marine Harvest Atlantic Canada Site
Salmon farmer Mowi reported that up to 450,000 fish have been impacted by an abnormal mortality event at the Marine Harvest Atlantic Canada site, The Gorge, which initially occurred on September 11.
On September 21, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture provided an update that found the mortality count had more than doubled, impacting 212,100 salmon, representing about 24% of the site’s fish, and over double of the 92,700 impacted by the event initially.
