COVID Cases Spike As Anchorage Mayor Downplays Vaccination
Alaska reported more COVID-19 cases in a single day this week since early January, a time when vaccines were not yet available — 376 cases on Tuesday, July 27. The numbers also indicated significant spikes in communities across the state, not just Sitka, Cordova, and Anchorage.
This week’s Monday and Tuesday case number combined was 526 which included 55 nonresident cases. Of those non-resident cases, 24 were in Unalaska, all noted as “industry related”. Unalaska’s Unified Command website no longer identifies the name of the employer of infected individuals...
