Western Central Pacific Ocean Tuna, a Key Source of MSC Certified Product At Risk of Suspension
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) said that 22 tuna fisheries in the Western Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) may face an MSC-certification suspension.
The WCPO is home to over half of the global tuna catch and represents 73% of all MSC-certified tuna. The MSC noted that the failure of these fisheries to retain certification could undermine years of work towards sustainable tuna fishing.
