Shrimp Industry Shares Concerns Over Offshore Wind Energy in the Gulf of Mexico
The winds of change are coming to the Gulf of Mexico -- and, similar to scallopers in the New York Bight, groundfish fishermen in the Mid- Atlantic and New England, and fishermen on the West Coast, shrimpers are feeling the pressure.
The Southern Shrimp Alliance recently filed comments with the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in response to its request for input regarding potential commercial wind energy leasing on the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf.
