Halfway Through Season, 11 Million Pounds or 45% of Pacific Halibut Quota Landed So Far
The International Pacific Halibut Commission released numbers yesterday that show the commercial landings in Canada and the U.S. have reached 11.1 mlbs, or about 45% of the annual catch limit as the season approaches the halfway mark. The fishery opened March 6 and will close this year on December 7 in all areas. That is about three weeks later than a historical date closer to November 15. The 2021 commercial quota for Pacific Halibut is 24.83 mlbs.
