ASPANS Voluntarily Withdraws MSC Snow Crab Certification in Gulf of St. Lawrence
The Affiliation of Seafood Producers Association of Nova Scotia (ASPANS) announced this week that they have voluntarily withdrawn the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certificate for the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence (Gulf) snow crab fishery.
The decision to withdraw comes after a consortium of Atlantic Canada’s harvesters and producers filed a Comprehensive Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) to address the ongoing efforts to reduce risks to North Atlantic right whales.
