Conservation Groups Sue NMFS Over Trump-era Gulf Shrimp Boat Sea Turtle Rule Changes
Multiple conservation groups filed a suit against the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in a challenge of changes made to sea turtle protections by the Trump Administration.
The suit specifically challenges a rule change made under former President Donald Trump which scaled back expansions on turtle excluder device (TED) requirements for shrimp boats operating in the Gulf of Mexico and the southeastern U.S.
