February Salmon Sales at Toyosu Market Rise 70% in Frozen Salmon, Prices Farming
Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market's sales of salmon and trout in February increased significantly due to a sharp increase in frozen Chilean coho salmon. Imports of fresh salmon were sluggish, while sales of farmed coho salmon, which are growing in Japan, increased steadily. Despite the low prices, sales of salted salmon did not succeed, reported Suisan Keizai.
The primary air-freighted fresh salmon was 345 tons, which was about 5% higher than January and gradually improved by 6.8% from the same month of the previous year...
