Today's Top Story: USDA, FDA Issue Joint Statement: "No Transmission of COVID-19 Through Food or Food Packaging"
Last week the World Health Organization issued a new report after investigating the origins of COVID-19 in China. According to their findings, the research team found no evidence linking a bat to the start of the global pandemic. Instead, WHO’s teams claims that the coronavirus may have originated in frozen meat. FDA Deputy Frank Yiannis immediately responded to the report, writing on Twitter that “there is no credible evidence of food, food containers, or food packaging being associated with or a likely source of transmission of COVID-19.” Now, the USDA and FDA have issued a rare joint statement, once again confirming that current epidemiologic and scientific information indicates no transmission of COVID-19 through food or food packaging...
