Local Government Calls on Chilean Processing Plants to Close, Citing COVID-19 Outbreaks
With coronavirus cases spiking in Chile, politicians from Chiloé are asking salmon processing plants to shut down.
Gabriel Ascencio shared on Twitter that he had asked processing plants in Chiloé to close for 14 days, alongside other politicians. Ascencio shared an article from local newspaper La Estrella, linking the increase in cases from the municipality of Quellón, a salmon processing hotbed.
