Alaska’s Revised CARE’s Act Relief Plan Falls Short for Commercial Harvesters, Processors
A Second Draft Spend Plan for Alaska’s Fisheries Participants was released to the public November 9 with a 7-day comment period that ended last night. Even with some critical changes, the plan still favors sport charter operators over commercial harvesters and processors.
More than 220 comments were received by all sectors: subsistence, commercial skippers, crew, processors, and sport charter lodge and vessels owners, in the first go around. Each suggested corrections, clarifications, or asked for changes.
